One of the biggest challenges in the work place is developing effective and highly functioning teams. I’m currently working with a client on this and we’re asking the team members to read
Patrick Lencioni’s classic The Five Dysfunctions of a Team. Many of Lencioni’s books are brilliantly written in fable form and this little one offers a fascinating look at a
hypothetical team of senior executives and how a new CEO builds them into an effective team.
Lencioni identifies the five dysfunctions as:
- Absence of trust,
- Fear of conflict,
- Lack of commitment,
- Avoidance of accountability and
- Inattention to results.
It is a great read with some practical ideas and practices to improve an organization’s management team. Want to discuss? Let us know.
