Simple Wisdom Tip #85: The Key is Discipline

Self-discipline is most important personal quality for assuring long-term success.  Elbert Hubbard defines discipline as,  “The ability to make yourself do what you should do, when you should do it, whether you feel like it or not.”   In his book Taking the Stairs, Rory Vaden says that, “of all qualities, self-discipline is one special quality that will guarantee you greater successes, bigger accomplishments, and more fulfilling happiness.”  Wow!

The challenge for many is that establishing discipline in one’s life is hard and, therefore, most folks don’t do it.  Those who persist, reap huge dividends down the road.  I love what Jim Rohn says about this:  “You will either experience the pain of discipline or the pain of regret.”  So, you can’t get away from some pain but here’s the punch line per Rohn:  “The pain of discipline weighs ounces but the pain of regret weights tons.”
